Editorial Policy
How Road Map Guides chooses, researches, reviews, corrects and updates its guides.

Purpose and audience
Road Map Guides publishes basic car care, used-car questions and safer everyday driving decisions for everyday drivers who want enough context to ask better questions and recognize when professional help is needed. The aim is to translate common car-care questions into clear checks, responsible limits and useful conversations with qualified professionals. Topics are chosen because they fit that purpose, not simply because a phrase appears popular in search.
Who creates the guides
Silas Payao and Juliana Payao are identified on the About page and in article bylines. Their author archives collect the guides attributed to each person and describe their role on this site.
Research and sources
We use owner manuals, manufacturer documentation, official safety and recall resources and clearly identified technical references. A source supports a claim; it does not replace the site’s responsibility to explain why that information matters to a beginner. External links are added when they give readers useful context or a way to verify a consequential claim.
Writing and review process
A guide begins with a defined reader question. Research notes are organized into a practical sequence, then the draft is checked for unsupported certainty, missing safety context, unclear instructions and repetition. Digital tools may assist with research organization, drafting and editing, but they are not treated as evidence. Claims still need identifiable support and the published page remains the site’s responsibility.
Bylines, dates and updates
Articles identify an author and show publication and substantive update dates. A date is changed when the guidance itself changes, not simply to make a page appear fresh. Small typographic or layout corrections do not become a fictional editorial update.
Corrections
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. Include the URL, the exact passage and any relevant source. We review the context and update the guide when a material correction is needed.
Editorial independence
The site does not currently publish sponsored or affiliate material. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed where it appears. Advertising does not determine the conclusion of a guide.
